Scott McLeod, General Practice, Consulting & Tax Principal
In 1982, Scott earned an MBA at Hofstra University and started his career in public
accounting at the New York City office of Arthur Andersen & Company. In September
of 1988, he returned to Maine and continued his career at the Portland office of
Coopers & Lybrand as a Tax Manager. In January of 1996, he became a founding
principal in the full service accounting firm of McLeod, Ascanio & Company. Scott's
exposure to the demands, results and rewards of excellence that embodies New York
City and multinational accounting firms has guided his vision of client service. Scott
manages a full range of client services including audit, review, tax consulting and
compliance, as well as strategic planning and process improvement.

Scott is licensed to practice accountancy in Maine. He is a member of the AICPA, its
Management Consulting Section, Tax Section and Personal Financial Planning Section.

Jim Ascanio, General Practice, Consulting & Tax Principal
Jim is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and Babson College. After receiving
his MBA from Babson College, he spent over three years as general manager of his
family’s contracting firm. Jim managed the company’s financial and marketing matters and
was instrumental in expanding the company’s market base and restoring it to profitability.
Jim joined the international accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand in 1989 as a Staff
Accountant. He advanced to Senior Accountant/Manager prior to becoming a founding
principal in the firm of McLeod, Ascanio & Company in January of 1995. In addition to
providing his clients with accounting and tax services, Jim has added value to his clients’
businesses through his business advisory services, valuation work and complex bank
financing proposals.

Jim is licensed to practice accountancy in the State of Maine. He holds memberships in
the AICPA, the Maine Society of CPA’s and the Institute of Business Appraisers.

Sally Horton, Principal
Sally Horton, CPA received her BS in Accounting at Husson College. She started her
career at Horton, McFarland, & Versey in Ellsworth, Maine, where she provided both
tax and audit services to a broad cross section of companies. Later she joined Berry,
Dunn, McNeil & Parker in Portland, specializing in financial management consulting,
auditing and third party reimbursement for healthcare clients. Since Sally joined McLeod,
Ascanio & Company in 2001, she has provided tax and audit services to manufacturing
and construction companies.

Sally is licensed to practice accountancy in the State of Maine and also holds a
membership in the AICPA and the Maine State Society of CPAs.

Matt Barbour, Principal
Matt Barbour received a BA in Accounting and Public Relations from Syracuse University.
He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999 as an Audit Associate in the
Denver, Colorado office. In 2000, he relocated to Portland, Maine with
PricewaterhouseCoopers and advanced to Senior Associate serving a variety of clients
in the Maine marketplace performing both audit and consulting engagements. Matt joined
McLeod Ascanio & Company in the fall of 2004 as Audit Manager where he currently
performs audit, review, tax and consulting related engagements.

Matt is licensed to practice accountancy in Maine and is also a member of the AICPA.
